The visit was conducted by the Council President İbrahim Akbal, Vice Presidents Eyüp Aratay, Erdoğan Arkış and Altan Kolbay, informing the BOTAŞ Board President and General Director Fazıl Şenel and BOTAŞ Deputy General Directors Mehmet Konuk İbrahim Tan and Asım Kafkas regarding the works of the Turkey Natural Gas Council.

Expressing their gratification for the establishment of the Turkey Natural Gas Council under TOBB, Şenel stated that they would provide full support for said council.

- “BOTAŞ is not against liberal market”

The Natural Gas Market Law Nr.4646, the privatization of BOTAŞ, contract transfers, international contracts and similar subjects were discussed during the meeting. Reminding that BOTAŞ is not against a liberal market structure, Fazıl Şenel stated that they side with the sector. Şenel also said that BOTAŞ, with its knowledge and experience, is in a position to establish itself in international markets and are that they working to this end.

TOBB Turkey Natural Gas Council Board Committee stated that they support the privatization of BOTAŞ granted that the process in handled with regards to national interests first and foremost. The committee stated that changes to the legislation towards a more liberal and competitive market would enable the private sector to progress and requested support.
