Iraq Foreign Affairs Minister Caferi hosted at TOBB ETU

Iraq Foreign Affairs Minister İbrahim Caferi addressed bureaucrats, academia, foreign missions and representatives of the business community at TOBB ETU. Caferi was hosted by TOBB Board Treasurer Faik Yavuz.​

Faik Yavuz pointed out that the Turkey – Iraq relations are always a priority for the business community during his speech.

 

Stating that the instability in the region is increasing, Yavuz stressed the fact that innocent people are being forced to leave their countries. Faik Yavuz touched on the fact that peace, commerce and prosperity support and strengthen each other and stated that the steps taken by the Iraq government to this end are very encouraging.

 

Iraq Foreign Affairs Minister İbrahim Caferi stated that Iraq is not the first victim of terrorism, spoke on the issue as it pertains to the developments in Eastern Asia and the Middle East, touching on the issue of ISIS. Caferi reported that ISIS has attacked Iraq extensively, using Islam as a front for their atrocities.

 

Speaking in regards to Turkey – Iraq relations, the Iraqi Foreign Affairs Minister stated that despite the developments in the region, the bilateral trade volume between the two countries would increase while possibilities for investment would proliferate. Caferi also reported that Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu would be visiting Iraq at the end of the month.

 

Caferi pointed out that they do not want the involvement of foreign countries in the matter of ISIS and stated that Iraq is well and capable of defending her interests.
