Stating that many obstacles have been overcome throughout the process, Mete said that independent international auditors were predicted at the start, “As a result of TOBB’s work we’ve ensured that independent accountants, financial advisors and chartered accountants will take on the role of independent auditors under the new law.”

Emphasizing that they’ve worked to keep the international accounting standards mandatory, TOBB Board Vice President Halim Mete stated that this has been rejected and instead an application catering to Turkey’s conditions has been chosen, “First, the matter of the preservation of the costs of production, secondly regulations to cover every strata with monetary and lenient penalties have been adopted.”

Saying that Trabzon is equivalent to the Turkey average, Mete said, “Unfortunately the level of knowledge in the administrations is not at its best. I’ve learned that two companies here in Trabzon are among the first 500 industrial institutions of Turkey. We will work together to make all businesses better.”

TOBB Board Vice President Halim Mete said, “We want Turkey’s accounting system to be overhauled, too.”

At the end of the conference, the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Council President Ali Osman Ulusoy and Board President M. Suat Hacısalihoğlu presented TOBB Board Vice President Halim Mete, Deloitte Turkey Tax Services Partner Tufan Teksoy, Dr. Sıtkı Anlam Altay, Deloitte Turkey TTK Leader and Partner Ali Çiçekli and Deloitte Turkey TTK and Familiy Businesses Services Coordinator Timuçin Cengiz with plaques. Afterwards a picture to commemorate the occasion was taken with the Eastern Black Sea Region chamber and exchange presidents.
