EMPLOYEES AND EMPLOYERS DISCUSSED OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY IN ISTANBUL

126 employees and employers from across Turkey, academics, and journalists participated in the EU Occupational Health and Safety Forum held in İstanbul on 20-22 April. The event was attended by Ms Rana Güven, Occupational Health and Safety Deputy Director General of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and Counsellor Ireneusz Fidos, Head of the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Turkey. ​

A forum moderated by Kaan Yakuphan included artists, activists, employees, employers, representatives of various professions and socio-economic backgrounds sharing their knowledge and experience concerning  occupational health and safety and discussing the results of a questionnaire to be filled in through electronic voting. Questions to reflect upon included occupational health and safety regulations in Turkey, the legal procedure to be applied to work injuries and what has to be done to improve the situation. Participants  included well-known academics, writers and actors, such as Devrim Evin and Prof. Mahmut Ekşioğlu.

 

The forum is organised by the EU Delegation to Turkey in cooperation with the EU Information Centres Network, founded in 1996 and active in 20 cities of Turkey. The Centres provide regular information on the EU and organise visibility activities for the public, as well as cultural activities such as conferences, meetings, exhibitions and concerts.
