Also attending the ceremony in addition to Minister Çelik were Hak-İş Chairman Mahmut Arslan, Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Yalçın, KESK Chairman Lami Özgen, DİSK Chairman Kani Beko, Kamu-Sen Chairman İsmail Koncuk, Türk-İş Organization Secretary General Eyüp Alemdar, TİSK Board Chair Yağız Eyüboğlu, International Labor Organization (ILO) Turkey Branch Director Numan Özcan and gave speeches.
TOBB Board Treasurer Faik Yavuz touched on the legislative status of various work health and safety regulations on the national scale and the need to unify them under a distinct law. Yavuz said, “We, TOBB, contributed to the fullest of our abilities in the preparatory efforts of the Work Health and Safety Law which entered into effect in the June of 2012.”
Emphasizing that the lack of vocational skills is one of the most significant problems of the country, Faik Yavuz complained that the education system is unable to educate personnel needed by the real sector.
Labor and Social Security Minister Faruk Çelik expressed his pleasure in attending the meeting and convening with the prominent actors on the matter of work health and safety.
Minister Çelik also spoke in regards to the steps taken towards a better legislation in regards to subcontracted workers.
