During the meeting in which the refugee crisis facing the EU and Turkey was discussed, TOBB EU Department Head Mustafa Bayburtlu represented TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu.

During the meeting, Mustafa Bayburtlu reported that over 2 million refugees have cost Turkey over 5.5 billion USD and the EU has provided very little in assistance.

Dimitris Avramopoulos praised Turkey for hosting over 2 million refugees and stated that the EU would provide more support in this regard in the future.

It was pointed out that the reasons which caused the refugee crisis rather than its results need to be analyzed, emphasizing that poverty, security, political instability are among the main causes for immigration.
