Turkey-Iran Agricultural Business Forum was attended by Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Faruk Celik and Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati and hosted by TOBB. Also present at the meeting was TOBB Treasurer Faik Yavuz representing TOBB.

Yavuz stated in his opening address that they view Iran as a brother country rather than a neighboring state, saying, "Recently, important steps have been taken in our relations. For that reason, we see this meeting as a gathering of brothers and sisters. We are seeing that our Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock has been instrumental in recent times in order to bring our countries together especially in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry. "

Yavuz pointed out that it is a time of economic, political and social turbulence around the world, and that the situation in Iraq and Syria is a great risk for both the countries and the region. Faik Yavuz said: “The preservation of Iran's stability and peace is greatly gratifying for us. Turkey and Iran share a historical friendship. Increasing cooperation and cooperation between our countries is of the utmost importance for our region.

We see the Business Forum here today as a fruit of the work of the Turkey-Iran Working Committee.”

Stating that the two countries are working to reach a 30bn USD trade target, Faik Yavuz emphasized that the potential in agriculture must be fully utilized in order to achieve this.

Faruk Çelik, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, stated that there have been significant developments in the relations with friend and brother country, Iran.

Mahmud Hojjati, Minister of Agriculture and Mobilization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said that Turkey's Mediterranean climate resembles Iran's northern and western climate, and it has laid the groundwork for joint work in agriculture.

Noting that the private sector of the two countries could co-invest, Hojjati said that more business partnerships could be made to offer products to the halal market.
