Developments in IT discussed at TOBB

Initiated by TOBB-IT with the support of TOBB and the Ministry of Economy as a part of the Soft_Away Project, the first of a series of TOBB IT Meetings took place at the TOBB Conference Hall.​

TOBB Board Member Cengiz Günay said, “We are going through a period when everything that is solid is evaporating. An era where either you change or you disappear. The world is talking about the New Industrial Revolution. Digital technology, biotechnology and nanotechnology have set a new path for global economy. Thanks to the developments in biotechnology, personalized drugs have entered our lives. Nanotechnology has changed the way they do business in energy, textiles, plastics and many other sectors. We started talking about concepts like as inter-machine communication, artificial intelligence and big data. What will Turkey do in this new age?”

TOBB Turkey Software Council Chair Melek Bar Elmas provided information about the duties, activities and endeavors of the Council.

Melek stated that in recent years, information and communication technologies have taken on a vital role for the existence of the state, the continuation of the republic and the preservation of democracy.

After the opening speeches, the Ministry of Economy gave presentations on the Service Sector Competitiveness Enhancement Project Support (HISER) and the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology R&D and Design Centers.

After the presentations, StartersHub General Manager Çiğdem Toraman, Arvento General Manager Özer Hıncal and Sisoft Health Information Systems General Manager Ömer Siso told the participants about their experiences and knowledge during the “Software Exports: Opportunities and Challenges” panel moderated by TOBB Sectors and Entrepreneurship Department Chief Ozan Acar.
