12.12.2011 /

TOBB Turkey Cement and Cement Products Council convened under Council President Mustafa Güçlü at TOBB’s Ankara Union Center to discuss the sector’s current issues with the high level representatives of private and public administration institutions.

- Secondary fuel use widespread in the EU

Stating that in Istanbul alone, 18,000 tons of garbage are produced every day, the sector representatives stated, suggesting that municipalities and cement companies form teams for the preparation of secondary fuel from household waste. This way, a high-energy consuming sector like cement will be relieved at a time when coal and calcined petroleum coke prices are rising.

- Complaints for rising electricity cost to the EPDK

Complaints regarding the rising electricity prices were relayed to EPDK officials. Stating that night tariffs were more appropriate than before, it was stated that the 46.1% rise in prices for night time usage were damaging to companies who had planned according to the previous state of the market.
