Yavuz: “It is necessary to develop new agriculture policies”

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Board Treasurer Faik Yavuz participated in the Turkey Flour Industrialists Federation (TUSAF) International Congress and Exhibition. In his speech, Yavuz pointed out the need for the development of new policies in agriculture, “Discussing support for agriculture solely around the share of budget to be allocated is preventing the main issues from being discussed. The added value of workers in the agricultural sector remains at 1,800 USD in Turkey; this figure is 52,800 USD in Denmark, 30,620 USD in Japan and 4,860 USD in Hungary.”
The 15th International Congress and Exhibition was organized by TUSAF at the Belek Tourism Center in Antalya with the participation of over a thousand foreign and domestic delegates.
TOBB Board Treasurer Faik Yavuz, emphasized that the agricultural sector is a strategic sector, stating that the value of agricultural production all over the world is increasing. Yavuz, noting that Turkey's national income has increased to 784 billion USD from 230 billion USD over the last 15 years, while share of agricultural production in the national income has dropped from 10.2% to 5.7%.
