During the meeting, the measures taken to address the Coronavirus outbreak were consulted on; the situation was discussed in terms of the furniture sector, the impact of domestic and foreign trade, the impact on the furniture sector and additional measures to be taken.

TOBB Board Member Oğuzhan Ata Sadıkoğlu expressed his satisfaction at being together with industry representatives and expressed his satisfaction at being together with all segments of the country, and that they gathered the demands with great care as the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey during the Covid-19 process affecting all segments of the country and that they always support the sector as TOBB.

TOBB Furniture Products Council Advisor Hamza Çınar gave a presentation; after the coronavirus transition period, 2020 exports were predicted to be more than the 3.5 billion USD exports of 2019; the domestic market in the period of the epidemic will reach a volume of 60 billion TRY by exceeding the summer period.

Councilors noted that in April and May, work had stopped throughout the sector; presenting the joint opinion that work was carried out with a capacity of 20-30%.

It was then emphasized that the 8% VAT rate applied in furniture should be applied to the raw material used in the formation of furniture.

Finally, Furniture Assembly Products Chairman Ercan Ata stated that they are carrying out a successful process against the coronavirus outbreak and the furniture industry will implement the measures necessary.
