TOBB President and TOBB ETU Board of Trustees President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu met with the principals of the 5 science high schools and Anatolia high schools built by TOBB and handed over to the Nation Education Ministry.​

 

Hisarcıklıoğlu requested that the principals stay in contact with TOBB and TOBB ETU and said, “If you keep in contact and be known your problems will be solved more easily and quickly. You should also be in close contact with the local chambers. You should be keeping up your local contacts.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu met with Rize TOBB Science High School Principal Aykut İlhan, Kırklareli TOBB Anatolia High School Principal Mustafa Keskin, Osmaniye TOBB Science High School Principal Ali Yurtseven ve Müdür Yardımcısı Mehmet Emin Öztürk, Muş TOBB Anatolia Teachers’ High School Principal Erhan Al, Şanlıurfa TOBB Science High School Principal Mustafa Remzi Koç at TOBB ETU. Also attending the meeting were TOBB ETU Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Güven Sak, TOBB ETU Secretary General Adem Şahin, Deans of 5 TOBB ETU faculties, 16 department heads and 2 institute directors as well as TEPAV authorities.

- Institutional relations must be established

Hisarcıklıoğlu suggested that corresponding student clubs be established in high schools and universities in order to organize activities. Emphasizing that TOBB, TOBB ETU and high schools should established institutional ties, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We must bring up students in high school to also adopt this institutional identity. A mechanism for dialogue is required for all of this. We will be opening 4-5 more high schools in the near future. Our numbers will grow. We must create synergy. We must train leaders in our high schools and universities.”

- Views of the CEOs

Stating the importance of education for Turkey, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the matter had come up during the meeting with CEOs from all over the world and the Prime Minister Erdoğan in İstanbul recently. Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the CEOs want more qualified and informed personnel in order to be able to invest more heavily in Turkey and that the best way to achieve this is with a good education system. Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that educating a young population would provide Turkey with advantages.

Also touching on the establishment of TOBB ETU, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they founded the university on the tenets of educating private sector friendly graduates and training qualified personnel for bureaucracy. Even before its tenth anniversary, it had become a popular pick among high school students. Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that there are 3 semesters per year in TOBB ETU with few vacations and said, “TOBB ETU’s language had to be Turkish. This is important for communication. English is also extensively taught as part of the preparatory classes. TOBB ETU has no unemployed graduates.”
