Agreement to prevent double taxation with Brazil coming soon

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu met with the Brazil Vice President Michel Temer. Hisarcıklıoğlu explained to Temer that they wish for a free trade agreement; Temer stated that an agreement to prevent double taxation would be passing through parliament soon.​

 

The TOBB President stated that Turkey and Brazil are rising stars in their respective continents and went on, “What disturbs me as a businessmen is that the bilateral trade between the two countries is close to nothing.”

Stating that Turkey exports a total of 135 million Dollars but that neither country knows the other well, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that an open trade agreement is necessary in order to develop relations between the two countries.

Brazil Vice President Michel Temer stating that Turkey and Brazil have engaged in close relations in the last 7-8 years, “In the last 3 years 2 Brazilian Presidents have visited Turkey. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited in 2010 and will be visiting again next month.”

Stating that over 91,000 tourists visit Turey from Brazil, Temer said, “The two countries are cooperating in the political field, not just the economic field. The only Latin country to join the Alliance of Civilizations has been Brazil.” Temer stated that the agreement to prevent double taxation would be passing through the senate soon and that this is significant for businessmen of both countries.
