The President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that one of the most significant problems of the future is hunger and that agricultural activities are of great importance in this regard.
Visiting the Ödemiş county during his İzmir program, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that he is following the problems in agriculture and livestock farming closely during his speech at the Ödemiş Commodity Exchange.
Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized the importance of Ödemiş among the country’s agriculture cities and continued his speech: “The world’s population increases by 74 million each year. Especially with the increasing prosperity of the Central Asian population, migration from the rural to the urban areas has increased. When we look at the goods with the highest increase in price in recent years, we can clearly see livestock and agriculture. Before, we farmed to feed ourselves. Now, it will be one of the most important elements of profit. Allah has not graced us with petroleum or natural gas but we have the most fertile lands of the world. We must prevent the division of farmland.”
Stating that the Netherlands exports 60 billion Dollars in agriculture and livestock goods, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The Netherlands is as large as Konya. We, as a country, export about 13-14 billion Dollars. There must be something amiss with us. Potatoes have been left in the field; have not brought in any money. The reason for this is the lack of planned planting. We must not alienate ourselves from agriculture. One of the most significant problems of the future will be hunger. That is why we must not give up on agriculture.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that attaining the textiles land to the county was greatly contributed to by the President of the Ödemiş Commodity Exchange, Latif Aka.
Stating that the rate of success for students’ entry into the university in Ödemiş is high, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “A county of intelligent people. With the contribution of the residents Ödemiş, I will do my best to have a university open here. I would also like to give you the news that Sütaş will be opening a facility at the organized industry zone here.”
Afterwards, Hisarcıklıoğlu conducted the opening of the new service building of the Ödemiş Commodity Exchange. Moving on to the Birgi County, Hisarcıklıoğlu visited the İmamı Birigivi Sepulcher and conducted the opening of the newly restored Çakırağa Residence.
