Addressing the members of the ATO council at the Ankara Chamber of Commerce Council Meeting regarding TOBB’s 60th Anniversary, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We are working without surcease to open the way for the Turkish private sector.” Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the Turkish chambers system has become an example for the whole world.
At the ATO Council Meeting, Hisarcıklıoğlu presented the ATO Council President Nuri Gürgür and ATO Board President Salih Bezci as well as the council members with “60th Anniversary” plaques and the Safahat by Mehmet Akif Ersoy prepared by TOBB, “People celebrate their holidays and birthdays with their families. We are a family as well. TOBB was founded with 1,500 members 60 years ago. Today, we are a giant family with 1.5 million members.”
Speaking about the progress TOBB has made in 60 years, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Today, TOBB is known both domestically and internationally. Our 365 chambers and exchanges have shown great progress. When I became the TOBB President 10 years ago, only 5 chambers spoke English. Today, only 10 don’t. The standards our chambers have achieved are very important. Today, 129 chamber and exchanges are at least on par with their European counterparts. We have reached 135 billion Dollars in exports from 269 million Dollars. The total national export of 60 years ago is now done by just 1 company.”
Stating that in his visit Kazakhstan President Nazarbayev has told them that they take Turkey’s chambers system as an example, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Remember that those who repeat the same day over twice are in loss. That is why we must always keep moving forward.”
