On the 4th anniversary of his passing, TOBB ETU Engineering Faculty Founding Dean Prof. Dr. Süleyman Sarıtaş was commemorated at TOBB ETU with a ceremony. TOBB and TOBB ETU Board of Trustees President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated during his speech that Prof. Sarıtaş has greatly contributed to the academic world and the field of engineering.

On the 4th anniversary of his passing, TOBB ETU Engineering Faculty Founding Dean Prof. Dr. Süleyman Sarıtaş was commemorated at TOBB ETU with a ceremony. TOBB and TOBB ETU Board of Trustees President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated during his speech that Prof. Sarıtaş has greatly contributed to the academic world and the field of engineering.
Attending the memorial ceremony at TOBB ETU were TOBB ETU Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Güven Sak, faculty members, alumni, students and administrative personnel. Also attending the ceremony was Prof. Dr. Süleyman Sarıtaş’s wife and son.
The ceremony begun with the reading of TOBB and TOBB ETU Board of Trustees President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu’s message:
“I am unable to attend the memorial ceremony of the Founding Dean of our university’s Engineering Faculty, valued scientist Prof. Dr. Süleyman Sarıtaş on the 4th anniversary of his passing due to my intensive schedule out of the city. But know that my heart is with you who have gathered to commemorate our dear teacher. The knowledge and experience he imparted to the youth in our university are of such profound importance to them as to shape the future of our country. On the 4th anniversary of his passing, I remember our teacher, Prof. Dr. Süleyman Sarıtaş, with love, gratitude and respect. I heartily believe that the students he educated will take up his banner of science. I salute you all with my deepest respect and love.”
TOBB ETU Deputy Rector Prof. Dr. Sak stated that they are proud to have actualized Prof. Dr. Sarıtaş’s dream of “joint education university”.

Born in 1952 in the Gümüşhacıköy county of Amasya, Sarıtaş held positions in METU in Ankara and Gazi University in Gaziantep. He founded the Turkish Powder Metallurgy Association in 1995 and presided over it until his death. He founded the TOBB ETU Engineering Faculty in 2004. On his way back from a meeting on joint education on the 19th of November, 2008, he lost his life in a car accident 30 km outside Ankara.
