Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu, referring to the meetings with the TRNC Chamber of Commerce, Greek Cypriot Chamber of Commerce and the Union of Hellenic Chambers, pointed out that the Chambers had convened together for the first time in 8 years.

Stating that they would rather meet yearly but due to various difficulties, this has been unsustainable, Hisarcıklıoğlu expressed his pleasure in having the meeting take place and stated that they are prepared to fulfill their duty throughout this process.

Noting that obstacles have never been created by the Turkish side, Hisarcıklıoğlu commented on the quadrilateral meeting, viewing as a sign that negotiations are going well.

- “We are working to bring both sides closer together”

During the reception President Eroğlu requested that Greek Administration President Anastasiades come better prepared to the June 23^rd meeting.

Stating that there is disparity between the proposals of the two sides Eroğlu emphasized that their goal is to bring the two sides closer together and that the phase for proposals is the second phase which they’ve only begun.

During the meeting, Hisarcıklıoğlu presented President Derviş Eroğlu with the book, “A Journey To The Beloved”, a compilation of Yunus Emre’s poetry and put together by TOBB.
