The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that banks have the right to view the financial records of companies, said, “They sell money; we sell goods. We shoulder labor and risk. Why can’t we see the records of the person we are selling goods to on credit? We want to see it, too. We have been promised that, by the end of this year, this will enter into effect.”

The Sounds of Eskişehir 2010-2011 Tax Record Holders Award Ceremony, held by the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce, took place with the attendances of TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu and the Eskişehir Governor Kadir Koçdemir.

Speaking at the ceremony Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that TOBB has contributed greatly to the changes in the new Turkish Trade Law; that TOBB lit the red light before the ship sunk.

Reminding that there have been a lot of changes to the Turkish Trade Law, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “If the Turkish Trade Law had not been changed we would all have paid 3 billion TL in 6 months. We have been freed from a yearly burden of 6 billion TL.”

Stating that when you are withdrawing credit from banks, the spouse needs to be the bondsman and that this is causing problems in the business world, Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that they are working towards a solution to this end and that they will hold meetings with the relevant ministers following the budget allocations.

Hisarcıklıoğlu, drawing attention to the fact that there is an increase of 97% in dishonored checks this year in comparison to the previous year, said, “If prison sentences are being removed, then we have a request. When I go to a bank for credit they have access to all of my financial information once they have my name, last name and the name of my company; whether I have any protested bills, dishonored checks, whether I pay my debts. They are able to see my whole financial record. What do I do when I want to sell goods on credit? I have to make a decision by judging the person by the car he drives or the house he lives in. You’ve given this right to banks. They sell money; we sell goods. We shoulder labor and risk. Why can’t we see the records of the person we are selling goods to on credit? We have said that we want to see this information as well. I want to see the financial records of the person I am selling goods to on credit so I can take on the risk. This was promised to us when the prison sentences were being removed. We had a meeting last week where we reiterated our complaints. It has been promised to us that this will enter into effect at the end of this year.”

- “Claim insurance needs to become widespread”

Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that claim insurance need to become widespread in Turkey, reported that they have started work to this end.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the worst problem for employers in Turkey is the tax burden put on employers and the lawlessness in the energy and retail sectors and said, “We have been unable to instate a legislation to bring order to the retail sector but we are working to this end.”

Stating that there is a defunct system in Turkey and that a new constitution is necessary to fix it, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Only then can we start the construction of a new system.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said that the thing which will bring Turkey into the top 10 economies of the world is Turkey entrepreneurial spirit and went on, “Would this be enough for us? No. I will not be satisfied with top 5. My generation deserves to be number 1.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that they are working to bring to fore women entrepreneurship in Turkey and that they are the forerunners in this regard in Turkey.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that there is but one formula for being rich in the world; that you are as rich as the number of entrepreneurs you have.

- School promise to Eskişehir

Hisarcıklıoğlu promised to build a school in Eskişehir and said, “The school built by TOBB in Van has suffered an act of arson. I condemn everyone who had a hand in this and those who have betrayed this country by going so far as to denying our children their right to education.”
