The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President and ICC Council Member M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the ICC Council Session held in Paris.
Prior to the ICC Council Session, Hisarcıklıoğlu attended the ICC Global Networks Committee Meeting. It was expressed that a restructuring would benefit the organization during the meeting.
During the Council Session which took place in the afternoon, ICC Honorary President Victor Fung provided information regarding the World Trade Agenda as suggested by the ICC in regards to the finalization of the Doha Development Negotiations.
The importance of removing incentives from food imports and lessening control on food imports was stressed during the meeting and it was emphasized that the trade of IT products needs to be increased as well as the support for e-commerce worldwide.
Also brought forth were suggestions for post-Doha trade policy such as incentivizing the formation of a multi-faceted structure in the field of investment; liberalization of service trade; development of green activities via trade; overhaul of the WTO Arbitration System and the liberalization of trade in WTO becoming multi-faceted.
During the Session, all national committees requested that these points be defended by the government.
Also during the meeting, the Elysée Palace Deputy Secretary General Macron provided information regarding “France’s Economy, Europe and International Trade Policies,” while ICC Mexico Board Member Pedro Aspe provided information regarding, “Mexico Economy Policy under the Administration of the new President.”
ICC Council Members exchanged views on the G20/B20 Summits and the new Positive Innovation Project.
