Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

Hisarcıklıoğlu said in his message:

“This is a day on which destructive wars ended, when the people of European nations came together to take concrete steps towards a financial foundation. This plan and the resulting European Union development process were found worth of a Nobel Peace Prize.

The EU must once again view the continent and the world through the eyes of its founding leaders. The EU must use its values, the power of its transformative power in the financial and political arena more actively. It hosuld not be forgotten that when Schuman issued his call on May 9^th, 1950, that the enterprise would be open to other European countries as well.

An important part of the European continent is still outside of the European Union. The majority of it is for joining the EU. Among them, the country which has maintained its will alive to this end for the longest period is Turkey.

Turkey’s accession process must be given further momentum, the EU is responsible to the people of a country which has shown willing to become a member of the EU just as the founders of the EU are deserving of respect.

I extend my congratulations to Europe on May 9^th Europe Day.”
