Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

The Secretary General Training Seminar was held at the Ankara TOBB Union Center, hosted by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and the attendances of TOBB Secretary General Mustafa Saraçöz and the secretary generals of chambers and exchanges. During the first part of the meeting a presentation providing detailed information regarding NACE codes and the election legislation was given.

- “All elections should be held in fairness and in accordance to its rules”

In his speech at the seminar, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey is Turkey’s most democratic institution and drew attention to the chamber and exchange elections to be held in March and February. Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that TOBB’s election schematic is structured from the bottom to the top and said that those at the bottom determine the management while the top has no effect on the lower echelons, making this whole structure very democratic

Hisarcıklıoğlu reminded that there has been a shift of 57% between the last two elections and addressed the secretaries general, “There will be elections in your provinces and counties. You have an important duty for democratic and fair elections. You must ensure the adherence to legislation and rules. Always be objective. Our only wish is that the elections be conducted in a just and fair manner, in accordance to the rules.”

- Importance of NACE codes

Pointing out the importance of the work on the NACE codes, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We would not have been able to move towards our 2023 goals haphazardly. This system will be where the future of Turkey will be constructed. Adopt this system.”

Stating that it sued to be impossible to know how many producers were to be found in sectors; that there were different coding systems in every institution, Hisarcıklıoğlu also reminded that even the contact information for companies was not up to date. Stating that, in this regard, a very important undertaking has been accomplished, the TOBB President reported that NACE codes could be used in a variety of manners. Hisarcıklıoğlu, stating that the NACE codes could be utilized to optimize the incentive mechanism, said, “We will be able to pinpoint sectoral convergence needs. The design of financial policy will be enacted more effectively. It will be possible to enact sectoral selective policies. We will support the growth of registered economy as well. KOSGEB credit will also be granted taking into account the information garnered from this project.”

Stating that it will be possible through the NACE coding system to attain the information on whatever company in an activity field dependent on address we wish, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “It will become easier to contact companies over the web. Because, for the first time, their contact information will be up to date. The product and partnership requests from abroad  will be more accurately directed to the companies which concern them. This will widen the business volume of the real sector.”

Ending his speech, Hisarcıklıoğlu answered questions from the chamber and exchange secretaries general afterwards a commemorative photo was taken.
