The meeting was held closed to the press, following which Hisarcıklıoğlu spoke on behalf of the committee, stating that they are pleased with the high voter turnout and the ratio of representation in the TBMM in regards the state of democracy in Turkey.
Stating that early elections should be a last resort, Hisarcıklıoğlu said:
“We’ve also urged the formation of a coalition government. Early elections should be a last resort. Developments, especially global developments, illustrate the need for the formation of a government posthaste, which we have spoken with Chairman Bahçeli on the matter as well as the Chairpersons of the other three parties in parliament.”
Answering a question on whether the Resolution Process had come up during their talk, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The Chairman voiced his opinion on the Resolution Process.”
TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu said, answering a question in regards to coalition alternatives, “I stated yesterday that we have made no such statements following our meeting with the Prime Minister. It is not our job to be saying, ‘Such and such parties should form a coalition’. This is a decision for the council of the parties in the parliament. Our view is that a government should be formed with all due haste and that early elections should be considered a last resort.”
