Speaking at the annual conference of the American-Turkish Council (ATC) which took place in Washington D.C., TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu drew attention to the importance of the conference in regards to Turkish – American relations.

Emphasizing that Turkey and the USA should cultivate a stronger alliance in order to overcome the violence sweeping through the Middle East, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Our countries need this partnership.

We need this partnership for a better Middle East. We need this partnership for a more secure world.”

Stating that international coalition must be established to combat terror, TOBB President said that this includes PKK, ISIS and others; that the violence and massacres perpetrated by these groups must be brought to an end.

Touching on the refugee crisis as well, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The refugee crisis is a result of this violence. Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon are the most negatively impacted countries by this crisis. This problem has grown in proportion for Europe lately. Europe still does not appear to be ready to handle it. The refugee crisis should be the international community’s priority.”

Pointing out that Turkey is the G20 Term Chair, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that he is chairing G20’s business arm, B20.

Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that B20 is focusing on the effects of recent global changes on G20 members and non-members.

Held for the 34^th time this year, the annual ATC conference was also attended by US Ambassador to Ankara John Bass and Senator John McCain, among others.
