Turkish private sector relays its problems to the government

The 9th Turkey Commerce and Industry Summit was hosted by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, presided over by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli, Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci, Customs and Commerce Minister Bülent Tüfenkci, Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Faruk Çelik as well as the board and council chairs of 365 chambers of commerce and commodity exchanges at the TOBB Conference Hall.​

During the Summit, board and council chairs of 365 chambers of commerce and commodity exchanges from 81 provinces relayed their issues and suggestions for solutions to Prime Minister Yıldırım and the various Ministers.

PM Yıldırım stated that all issues are being diligently noted by the ministers attending the summit and said, “It is one of the primary duties of the 65th Term Government to solve these issues you present us with and the open the way for you, the industrialists and merchants of our country, in progressing to the level of modern civilizations. This is what the AK Party as ruling party has done for the past 14 years.”

Stating that most of the complaints are in regards to implementation of legislation, Yıldırım said that there is a need for better accountability and implementation.

Yıldırım assured that the requests for development of industry, establishment of new OIZs and logistical centers as well as removing various bureaucratic obstacles are all reasonable, “I’ve yet to hear anything for luxury or waste. These are all consistent and reasonable requests which will contribute to the GDP of the country, which aim to invest more into the region. We cannot refuse these; nobody can.”

Touching on the issue of the coup attempt of the Fetullah Terror Organization on July 15th, PM Yıldırım stated that the whole country was in the streets in solidarity against the putschists and that the largest civil society organization of Turkey, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey stood by democracy with all of its members, “You gave the putschists the best answer possible. Thank you all.”

Greeted by TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu prior to the, PM Yıldırım planted a memorial tree in TOBB’s garden.
