Releasing a message due to 18 March Martyrs Day and 98th Anniversary of Çanakkale Naval Victory, Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of TOBB, emphasized that the people who shared a common destiny on this land had shown in Çanakkale that they would be like one fist for their country and nation and would never give up independence.
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Çanakkale victory is the evidence of the fact that no power may stand in the way those whose hearts beat the same. This victory is the signature of those who sacrificed their lives for independence.”
In his message, Hisarcıklıoğlu communicated the following messages:
“The Epic of Çanakkale, which occupies a very meaningful place in our history, is one of the most beautiful and concrete evidences of our pride and love for independence. The war against the entente states in the Gallipoli peninsula during World War I is the story of solidarity and success which is hard to see in history.
To understand the value of the present, we must know our history well. Those who wrote the epic, strived to save their beloveds and their country under the most adverse conditions, and preferred dying to living under the yoke of others are those who shouted out to the world that this nation would not accept anything other than living free and independently.
The victory gained as a result of this war which turned the soil in Çanakkale to blood red was the victory of those who defended their legitimate cause with their bloods.
The message communicated to the world from Çanakkale by those people who shared both grief and happiness on the same geography will ever remain valid. Those who attempted to break our brotherhood and solidarity, those who longed to possess our land, got the heaviest and most meaningful answer from the joined hearts of this nation.
In the name of the Turkish business world, we remember Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his fellow soldiers, and all our martyrs who wrote this great and meaningful epic with gratitude, and share this prideful day with our glorious nation.”
