Hisarcıklıoğlu in talks in the US

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, along with Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak and Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, met with prominent US company heads in a round table meeting in New York.​

Hisarcıklıoğlu, stressing that Turkey is a country of investment opportunities and invited US companies to do more business with and to invest more in Turkey.

Ministers Pekcan and Albayrak spoke about the advantages of doing business in Turkey, urged more business.

At the meeting which garnered great interest, providing information regarding the investment environment in Turkey, Ruhsar Pekcan, Berat Albayrak, and M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu answered questions of US companies.

Speaking at the opening session of the meeting, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu, emphasizing that Turkey is a country of opportunities, with US companies to invest in Turkey and Turkey urged to do more work.

In his speech, Hisarcıklıoğlu mentioned the effects of protectionist policies and sanctions imposed on some Ministers by the US administration on mutual economic relations.

- Ministers urged US companies to do business

Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan and Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak, emphasizing the advantages of doing business in Turkey in their speeches, invited US companies to do more business with Turkey.

Providing information about the New Economy Program, Minister Albayrak stated that the program is based on the principles of stability, discipline and transformation.

Reporting that Turkey's state, private sector and household borrowing are under the global average, Minister Albayrak stated that, during his term as minister, there have been concrete developments in the current account deficit reduction.

In the last two months, Albayrak stated that the ratio of exports to imports has improved significantly compared to last year.

Berat Albayrak stated that the events of July 15th and after were not clearly understood in the United States.

Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan stated that they want more tech investment and R&D in Turkey and gave information about the work on “free technology zones.”

US Chamber of Commerce Vice Chairman of the Khush Choksy speech emphasized the confidence in the TOBB-US Chamber of Commerce partnership, and the importance given by American companies doing business in Turkey and the US Chamber of Commerce to Turkey.

Choksy stated that the steps taken to resolve problem and gestures will contribute to the revival of economic relations reported.

- The duration of the cooperation protocol between TOBB and the US Chamber of Commerce will be extended

Following the meeting, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu met with executive Vice President and head of International Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Myron Brilliant, and senior vice president for Middle East and Turkey Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Khush Choksy.

During the meeting, Turkey-US relations were discussed with emphasis on the importance of the business world lobbying as tensions between the two countries.

Furthermore, a consensus was reached on extending the cooperation protocol between TOBB and the US Chamber of Commerce.

TOBB Vice Chairman Tamer Kıran and Board Member Zeki Kıvanç also attended the meeting.
