Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that adulteration causes damage to both consumers and producers, and those engaging in adulteration should be banned from the profession. Hisarcıklıoğlu also stated that BYSD officials have been fighting against adulteration.
Deputy Trade Minister Sezai Uçarmak stated that the vegetable oil sector has the power to compete with the world and pointed out the measures which are necessary for the sector. Uçarmak said, “The vegetable oil sector is dependent on imports in regards raw materials; it is necessary to take measures against this. This can be achieved by production planning, quota system application rescheduling or comprehensively planning process regime to favor domestic production to support the sector.”
Tahir Büyükhelvacıgil, BYSD Council President stated that due to the lack of raw material in sunflowers, the sector has become dependent on foreign countries, necessitating premium support and incentives for producers, increasing annual production volume to 2.5-3 million tons.
