The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, in his message on the occasion of May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, emphasized that May 19th, 1919, is a historic day with very deep meanings when the national fight began.

Hisarcıklıoğlu “Today, we proudly commemorate the beginning day of a great heroic story in which the torch of the War of Independence was lit.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu included the following views in his message:

“May 19th is a special date that we commemorate with pride and that we will always tell to future generations as the day of the rise of a great nation which never gives up its homeland and independence.

A whole nation, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades in arms, concluded the war of honor with victory and left a deeply cherished trust to the young generations.

Our youth, whom we have raised with this awareness, will carry our country to the forefront of the race of civilizations by being aware of this great fight.

As the Turkish business world, we are always following in the footsteps of Atatürk and our heroes, and we are striving to raise this sacred trust left by them to the most beautiful place.

We know that our greatest strength in this path is our youths who are aware of the great gem in them.

On the anniversary of this meaningful day, on behalf of the Turkish private sector, I wish the 19th May Atatürk Commemoration, Youth and Sports Day to be a happy one, and once again commemorate our martyrs and veterans with the utmost appreciation, gratitude and mercy.”
