TOBB Turkey Economy Council was hosted by Hisarcıklıoğlu with the participation of Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay, Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati, Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş and Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Dönmez. Representatives of the business world conveyed their problems and demands to the Government.
TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu, in his speech at the opening of the program, stated that the economic councils initiated by the order of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan are a very important platform where the public and private sectors come together and where the problems and suggestions are conveyed directly to the executive authority.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that it is very valuable and gratifying that many issues raised here were resolved thanks to the participants, and that the authorities were with them whenever they needed and supported in solving the problems.
Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the issues raised at the meeting were determined in consultation with the members of the presidents of chambers and commodity exchanges throughout the country, and said:
“We have classified them according to the ministries and we are forwarding them to you. Of course, the most important thing for us is to see our state stand with us, as it is doing today. At this point, I would like to emphasize the following. In the reforms to be made regarding the legislation, as in the past, the establishment of public-private dialogue mechanisms will be very useful. Because in the draft laws, the fact that the opinion of the private sector is not taken in a timely manner causes many problems in the field. We are ready to run, work and produce.”
- Vice President Oktay
In his speech, Vice President Fuat Oktay stated that each of the business people had the potential to turn difficulties into opportunities by seeing the advantages of indigenization during the pandemic period and said, “I invite you to support the move of indigenization and nationalization in intermediate goods and to be the pioneers of domestic input in production.”
Vice President Fuat Oktay, who also addressed the council, which also aimed to establish public-private dialogue mechanisms, stated that Turkey is one of the few countries that increased its power during the Covid-19 outbreak. Oktay pointed out that in addition to taking all kinds of measures to protect the health of the society during the pandemic process, they are mobilizing all opportunities to ensure citizens’ access to vaccines, jobs and capital, and said, “The TOBB family, that is, the braves in the heart of the economy, know this the best.”
Stating that in a period when the troubles are overcome together with the business world and the obstacles from within and without are faced together, their biggest gain is that they can support all segments from the business world to the employees, Oktay said, “While the structures are transforming all over the world, we have updated our economic policies in accordance with Turkey's realities and needs. We are in an effort to save the Turkish economy from the vicious cycle of high interest-high inflation and put it on the growth course through investment, employment, production, exports and current account surplus.”
After the opening speeches, the council continued closed to the press.
