The President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, attended the opening ceremony of the Biga Food, Agriculture, Livestock and Technologies Fair.

The TOBB President congratulated those who contributed to the Biga Fair, organized for the 18th time this year. Hisarcıklıoğlu said that Biga Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Biga Commodity Exchange have become the driving force of local development in the district.

TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We want a railway to Biga, which has become the industrial center of Southern Marmara. They want the expansion of the OIZ and a marina to support tourism. In addition, a container port that will serve this region would suit Karabiga.”

In his speech at the program, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that commercial disputes can be resolved both faster and cheaper thanks to the mediation center they opened yesterday within the Biga Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Stating that Biga is an agricultural and industrial center, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “I heartily congratulate our Biga Chamber of Commerce and Industry and our Chamber President Şadan Doğan, who is a true Biga lover. Because now our fair has become institutionalized, we are organizing it for the 18th time. You are undertaking a great initiative here. You are organizing the biggest promotional event in South Marmara. Thus, you advertise the producer and the product. You protect our national values. This is the way to local development and prosperity.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu emphasized that the fair showed the production power of Biga and Çanakkale, “the lands that feed Türkiye.”

Explaining that the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge has turned Biga into a critical trade corridor connecting Asia and Europe, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Hopefully, our business world is waiting for this road to merge with the İzmir road as soon as possible.”

- “18 products in Çanakkale have received geographical indication”

Noting that industrial investments are increasing day by day and that the district has a great wealth in terms of local products, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “18 products in Çanakkale have received geographical indications. Most recently, our Biga Chamber of Commerce and Industry protected Biga cheese dessert with a geographical indication. Ezine cheese, one of the distinguished flavors of Çanakkale, became the first Turkish cheese registered in the European Union. I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”

Stating that there is unity in Türkiye's branded cities, Hisarcıklıoğlu said that if the governor, mayor, MPs and non-governmental organizations are united and together, those cities become brand cities, and that he saw this in Çanakkale and was impressed.

Stating that they have demands from the deputies, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We want a railway to Biga, which has become the industrial center of Southern Marmara. They desire the expansion of the OIZ and a marina to support tourism. In addition, a container port that will serve this region would suit Karabiga.”

Stating that Şadan Doğan, President of the Biga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, constantly brought this issue to the agenda in Ankara and followed it, Hisarcıklıoğlu concluded his words as follows:

“Our chamber and commodity exchange in Biga are accredited chamber and commodity exchange. Both of them provide 5-star service. You will think that I am saying 5 stars to flatter them, because they choose me and I do not choose them. You may think so, but I do not award this star. An international accreditation board audits the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Biga by the same people who audit the chambers in Paris, Berlin and London. The stars they give are exactly 5 stars. I congratulate my chamber and commodity exchange for this. I thank them for their work.”

After the awards were given to the breeders who ranked in the Biga Cattle Breeding Beauty Contest, the ribbon was cut by the protocol members and the fair was opened.

The ceremony was attended by Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman, AK Party Çanakkale MP Ayhan Gider, CHP Çanakkale MPs İsmet Güneşhan and Özgür Ceylan, Çanakkale Mayor Muharrem Erkek, Çanakkale Mayor İsmail Kaşdemir, President of Çanakkale War Gallipoli Historical Site, Biga District Governor Ercan Kayabaş, Biga Mayor Alper Şen, Biga Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Şadan Doğan, AK Party Çanakkale Provincial Chairman Ömer Faruk Göktürk, representatives of political parties, business people and other guests.
