‘Women in Business’ panel at WCF Summit

The “Women in Business” panel within the scope of the World Chambers Federation (WCF) Europe and Asia Summit held in İstanbul was held with the participation of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) and WCF President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.​

In his speech here, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they came together to consult on how to increase the representation of women in chamber systems. WCF and TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the Women Entrepreneurs Council was established within TOBB and said, “We have made it the largest women entrepreneurs network in both Türkiye and Europe. In this way, we have doubled the rate of women entrepreneurs in Türkiye in the last 20 years.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said that one of his main goals during his tenure as WCF President was to make women more visible and empower them.

Reminding that the Women Entrepreneurs Council was established within TOBB, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We have made it the largest women entrepreneurs network in both Türkiye and Europe.

In this way, we have doubled the rate of women entrepreneurs in Türkiye in the last 20 years.”

- The number of women in the chamber system is increasing

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that they ensured the rapid increase in the number of women presidents and board members in the Turkish chamber system and said, “The presidents and members of our women entrepreneurial boards in this hall are the ones who ensure all these positive developments. I congratulate each and every one of them for their determined and devoted work. I am proud of them. Today they are carrying out another important work. This is a Memorandum of Understanding between TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council and the Egyptian Council of Economic Business Women. Both sides wish to strengthen relations and develop mutual cooperation in the field of women entrepreneurship and women employment. Both sides will carry out joint projects, including training, mentoring and consultancy activities for women entrepreneurs to get more share in various sectors. I sincerely congratulate both parties for their right vision.”

Pointing out that women are indispensable for economic growth, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Research shows that the economic and political empowerment of women leads to increased economic prosperity of nations. This points to how effective women’s participation in economic life can be.”

- Cooperation agreement with Egypt

After the opening speech, a cooperation agreement was signed between the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council and the Women Entrepreneurs Council of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and Industry to develop joint projects and share experience. The agreement was witnessed by Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the World Federation of Chambers and TOBB, and Ahmet Al Wakil, President of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
