Hisarcıklıoğlu shared the following opinions in his statement regarding the meetings:
“In the last 1 week, we held 7 regional meetings and came together with our Chamber and Commodity Exchange Presidents in 81 provinces and 160 districts.
We evaluated the economic situation in the provinces and districts, the problems in the sectors and the demands of our business world.
3 main problems came to the fore in the meetings;
1. Difficulties in access to finance
2. Agricultural frost disaster
3. Problems caused by rising input costs, especially in labor-intensive sectors
The problem of access to finance is the most frequently mentioned issue. In order for our economy to grow on a stronger and more sustainable basis, the real sector’s access to financing should be facilitated and financing costs should be reduced.
Many products have been damaged by the agricultural frost disaster. This biggest frost disaster we have experienced has caused serious damage to agricultural production in some regions. At this point, it is emphasized that there are problems in determination studies in the field. Accurate damage assessment, compensation of this damage and timely payments are very important. For the continuity of production, we need to support our producers and stand by our farmers in difficult situations.
Labor-intensive sectors are in danger of losing their competitiveness. We are having great difficulty in protecting our export markets. Additional support should be given to labor-intensive sectors, especially textiles and ready-to-wear clothing.
Also, let’s not forget the reality of earthquakes in our country! Every province and district in Türkiye must be ready for disaster.
Safe buildings and earthquake-resistant cities now to avoid reliving the same pains!”
