On the Georgian Finance Minister Baindurashvili’s invitation, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu traveled to Tiflis yesterday and met with Georgian Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili and Georgian Minister of Economy Vera Kobalia.

On the Georgian Finance Minister Baindurashvili’s invitation, The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu traveled to Tiflis yesterday and met with Georgian Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili and Georgian Minister of Economy Vera Kobalia.
An agreement pertaining to the partnership possibilities on the subject of the modernization of customs gates was reached with Georgian Finance Minister Baindurashvili. According to this, the Georgian Finance Minister will work together with Customs and Tourism Enterprises Co. Inc., established by TOBB, to prepare a feasibility report.
Afterwards a Collaboration Protocol was signed between TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıkloğlu and Georgian Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili. According to the protocol the Georgian Ministry of Finance will inform Turkish firms operating of legislative changes in regards to taxes while TOBB will provide the same information to Georgian firms operating in Turkey.
After the ceremony wherein the protocol was signed, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu visited Georgian Minister of Economy, Vera Kobalia. The meeting was also attended by Georgian Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili, Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Levent Murat Burhan and Georgian Union of Chambers Commerce and Industry President Jemal Iniashvili.
Cooperation for the Silk Road project was agreed upon. Also a visit to Georgia by Turkish businessmen in June organized by TOBB and Georgia Investment Agency is planned.

During his visit, TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu also attended the press conference introducing “The Georgian Tax Legislation Guide”, prepared in Turkish.
In his speech at the press conference, attended by Georgian Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili, Georgian Union of Chambers Commerce and Industry President Jemal Iniashvili and representatives of Turkish firms operating in Georgia, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu talked about his many visits to Georgia, saying, “Every time I visit Georgia, I see substantial advancements. Steps on par with reforms being taken.”
Stating that the Georgian economy was on the right track and that it offered opportunities for investor, TOBB President went on, “I see this ‘Guide’ as an indication of Georgia’s becoming transparent. Wherever there are transparency and regulations, there can be no corruption. Georgia is implementing this successfully. We can observe this easily by the decline of the number complaints of our businessmen operating in Georgia.”
