TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, in his speech during the meeting, congratulated Minister Bağış on his appointment. Thanking Bağış for his contribution and support for the private sector in the previous years, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “If Turkey is to transform, it must be with all the components of society.”

Stating that the establishment of the EU Ministry shows Turkey’s determination regards to the EU, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “When we say European Union Ministry we must consider it as EU standards. If we observe EU standards, it is the standards of quality of everything from the food they eat to the air they breathe. This means that in the coming term we must all pull together to reach EU standards which are arguably the highest standards in the world.”

EU Minister and Head Negotiator Egemen Bağış stated that Hisarcıklıoğlu was also the Vice-President of EUROCHAMBRES and has always supported him in the EU process, “I believe that in the coming term we will conduct even more important projects in close cooperation with TOBB and EUROCHAMBRES. It gives me gret pleasure to be of singular mind and purpose on all manner of subjects between Turkey and the EU, such as the visa issue.”
Stating that they had realized many joint projects with TOBB in Turkey, Bağış said, “In the coming term we will be making advances in many European capitals starting with Brussels.”
Minister Bağış answered reporters’ questions at the end of the meeting.
