Batman Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mehmet Teymur has passed away due to a heart attack. TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that he viewed the passing of Teymur, who had been presiding over the Batman Chamber of Commerce and Industry for 40 years, with great sadness, “We have learned of our dear brother Mehmet Teymur with deep sadness. I pray for the grace of Allah upon the deceased and present my condolences to his family, loved ones and the business world. Mr. Teymur will be remembered with respect for his contributions to the business world.”
Batman Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mehmet Teymur was hospitalized yesterday (28.08.2011) first to the Private German Hospital and from there to the Batman District Hospital. Teymur was unable to be saved despite all effort in the District Hospital and passed away.
Batman Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mehmet Teymur’s funeral will be held after the afternoon prayer at the Batman Hamidiler Mosque and then interred at the Site graveyard today (29.08.2011).
- Who is Mehmet Teymur?
Born in the Midyat County of Mardin in 1932, Mehmet Teymur completed his primary schooling there. He settled in Batman in 1960 and started business. Achieving much success in the lumber trade, Mehmet Teymur was active in many fields such as contract construction, liquid fuel trade and education.
Teymur was elected to Batman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board Presidency in 1971 and held office since then. He was the longest presiding businessmen in Turkey and pioneered the establishment of the Craftsmen’s Bail and Craftsmen’s Chamber and was a member of the board of directors.
Mehmet Teymur was also a Board Member of the Dicle Development Agency, a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Batman University and Batman Organized Industry Zone’s Second President.
