In his opening remarks, Council President İbrahim Akbal stated that the Council started its activities 10 years ago and has been working to benefit and guide the sector during this time. Akbal expressed his thanks to TOBB management, Turkey Sector Councils Directorate, all contributing members, council advisors and industry officials, especially TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu and TOBB Vice President Selçuk Öztürk.

Within the agenda of the meeting, Councilor BOTAŞ Natural Gas Business and Market Operations Regional Manager Murat Önde made a presentation on natural gas transmission system, regulatory developments and grid development processes. Önde gave information about BOTAŞ' transmission activities and that the record for natural gas consumption was broken in 2021 compared to previous years.

With his presentation titled “Climate Change and Energy Transformation Process,” Council Vice President Serkan Hotoğlu briefed the Turkey Natural Gas Council on world trends such as “Fit for 55,” the European Union's 2030 climate targets roadmap, the carbon neutral targets of major economies, and what can be done about them in Turkey.

Turkey Natural Gas Council Advisor Erdinç Özen briefed on the draft Cross Border Adjustment Mechanism strategy document issued by the European Commission in July.

Turkey Energy Council Advisor Kemal Uslu gave a presentation on the use of production resources and realizations in the Electricity Market for January-August 2021.
