E-commerce Council convened

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB) E-commerce Council convened in a hybrid meeting in İstanbul with the participation of TOBB Vice President of the Board of Directors Selçuk Öztürk under the chairmanship of Ozan Acar, Council President of the Turkish E-commerce Council.​

At the meeting, Mehmet Kayış, Head of the Electronic Commerce Department of the Ministry of Commerce, informed the Council Members about the Draft Regulation on Electronic Commerce Service Providers and Intermediary Service Providers. In addition, the opinions and evaluations of the members of the Council on the draft were discussed at the meeting.

Later, the effects of the Geographic Data Licensing Regulation on the sector were consulted with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Bayraktar, Deputy General Manager of Geographic Information Systems, and Ebubekir Güngen, Director of the Permit and Licensing Branch.

In the next agenda item, the information about the “Legendary/Wonderful Friday Discounts” relayed from the Ministry of Commerce to TOBB was discussed. In order to prevent consumers from experiencing victimization especially in the discount sales campaigns carried out intensively in November, it was pointed out that the provisions of the Law on the Protection of Consumers No. 6502, the Regulation on Commercial Advertising and Unfair Commercial Practices and the “Guide on Discounted Sales Advertisements and Commercial Practices with Advertisements Containing Price Information” should be complied with in the advertisements and advertisements to be published by the companies.

The meeting ended with the consultation of the activities and projects of the Council.
