As part of the revitalization of the Silk Road and the work to integrate Afghanistan to the TIR system in order to facilitate commerce, a delegation of representatives from the Afghanistan Transportation, Commerce, State and Treasury Ministries and the Afghani Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) were trained regarding the TIR system at TOBB.​

Speaking at the opening of the program, TOBB Vice President and TIR Committee President Halim Mete stated that they are honored to contribute to the development of the brother state of Afghanistan as the TOBB community and that, as the biggest guarantor in the world, TOBB stands ready to continue their support domestically and internationally.
The training will take place between the 20th and the 23rd of November, 2012, and will be conducted by Customs and Commerce Ministry and TOBB. During training the functioning of the TIR system within Turkey will be explained while TOBB and relevant Ministries’ experts will provide theoretical and practical training in addition to visits to the field.
