Karacan: Turkish contractors should have priority in projects in Tatary

Tatary President Minnikhanov attended the business breakfast held by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and the Foreign Economic Affairs Counsil (DEİK) at the Çırağan Palace.​

 

In his speech, TOBB Board Member and Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce Board President Harun Karacan stated that the Tatary President’s visit will provide incentive for Turkish and Tatary businessmen to make more investments.

Stating that Tatary and Kazan, which have strong historical and social ties with Turkey, are some of the most ancient centers of the Turkish civilization, Karacan said, “As our time apart came to an end we constructed strong economic, political and social ties between Turkey and Tatary. In 2008, our bilateral trade volume reached 3 billion USD. This number fell in following years. However, our wish as Turkey to raise the volume to 5 billion USD remains.”

Karacan stated that Turkey remains Tatary’s largest trade partner and touched on various subjects including priority for Turkish contractors in upcoming projects like the 2015 World Water Sports Championship and the 2018 World Football Championship, as well as stressing the importance of joint agricultural production, closing with the increasing touristic activity between the two countries.

Tatary President Rustam Minnikhanov said, “Tatary is your homeland as well. Tatars are your brothers.”

Minnikhanov stated that the relations between the two countries are progressing well and that there are many projects of varying extents, said that they will conduct many important projects together. Agreeing that Turkey is Tatary’s largest trade partner, President Minnikhanov provided information regarding the important developments that they’ve achieved.

Following the opening speeches, representatives of Turkish companies considering working in Tatary relayed information regarding their companies and their suggestions to the Tatary President.

Also attending the meeting were Tatary Presidential Counsellor Radik Gimatdinov, Tatary Trade and Industry Chamber President Şamil Agaev, DEİK Turk-Russian Buisness Council Deputy Cihan Candemir, DEİK Turkey-Eurasia Business Councils President Tuğrul Erkin and Turkish businessmen who want to conduct business or who are already conducting business in the region.
