During his speech at the Turkish-Portuguese Business Forum, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Vice President and İstanbul Chamber of Commerce (İTO) Board President Murat Yalçıntaş drew attention to the fact that Portugal, a European Union member opened up instead of closing up on itself and offered his congratulations to the Prime Minister of Portugal.

Stating that Turkey has gone through the same issues in the past, Yalçıntaş emphasized the importance of opening up to trade and said that this was how they were able to write their success story.

The Portuguese Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho, stating that it was his first visit to Turkey, said that they hope to open a new page in bilateral relations.

Stating that the commercial and economic relations between the two countries are at an insufficient level, Coelho invited Turkish businessmen to invest in Portugal.

The Minister of Econony, Zafer Çağlayan, stated that the Portuguese Prime Minister Coelho’s visit will contribute to the development of economic relations between the two countries.

Minister Çağlayan said, “We want to make use of both of our advantages and work together in third countries.”
