TOBB Turkey Air-conditioning Council convened at the TOBB Union Center under the Council President Zeki Poyraz to discuss the issues affecting the sector.

It was pointed out that air-conditioners able to humidify and cool which are subject to the Special Consumption Tax (ÖTV) are being sold as heating units to avoid the ÖTV, which in turn is causing unfair competition. Council President Zeki Poyraz emphasized the importance of equalizing ÖTV rates. Mehmet Çankaya, President of the ÖTV Group of the Income Management Directorate, stated that an update to the list which details the ÖTV costs and rates is in order. Aegean Air-conditioning Industry and Businessmen Association (ESSİAD) Secretary General Aylin Gel made a presentation detailing the EHİS Accredited Testing and Analysis Laboratory Project. Council Vice President Metin Duruk reported that an Air-conditioning department has been opened at the Yıldız Technical University. Council President Zeki Poyraz requested that the associations of the sector provide support for scholarships for the students applying to this department
