05.01.2011 / ANKARA

The President of TOBB M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, attended “Masa” TV program on TRT Turk channel as the guest of Serhat Akça and called out to both unemployed and employers not to miss this opportunity. He expressed that the target for the year 2011 was to train 200.000 people.

Hisarcıklıoğlu signified that according to the responses of the surveys that were implemented on employers, the most important problem was the unemployment. He also said, “We are proud of our young generation. Half of the population in Turkey is under the age of 28 that is to say approximately 36 million people are under the age of 28. If we manage to train this population correctly, they will be the wealth of our country in the future.”
“Our main problem is lack of profession”
Hisarcıklıoğlu in his speech said “Unfortunately, the lack of profession depends on the education system of the country. In fact it would better to say that the main problem of Turkey is the lack of profession instead of unemployment. There are approximately 3,5 million unemployed people in Turkey . Also there are 800 thousand young people who want to be employed each year. ”
“Unemployment rate was 14% during the crisis”

Hisarcıklıoğlu continued, “During the crises, the unemployment rate was 14% because of the fact that so many people have lost their jobs. Concerning to the social facts, it is a hard mission to manage. Therefore, The Ministry of Labor and Social Security, Turkey Business Council, Ministry of National Education, together initiated this project to tackle the unemployment problem educating the unemployed people.

“The work-force analyses have been initiated in 19 pilot provinces.”
Hisarcıklıoğlu added, “At the beginning, we chose 19 pilot provinces that are the pioneers of industry in our country. Furthermore we have conducted work-force analyses that have never been performed so far. According to these analyses, 85 % of the companies in these provinces complained about the qualifications of the employees. So, we asked them what qualifications do you require for the candidates who want to apply your company. Considering these qualification demands, we will train the unemployed people.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu continued, “Let me tell you something that I forgot to mention at this point: the trainers need training. Likewise the vocational schools need new machines and equipments. Therefore, our priorities were the training of trainers and purchase of new machines and equipments.”

 “Don´t miss this opportunity”
Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “The Turkish business world should not miss the opportunity and in fact they should utilize from this opportunity. Our most important complain is that we are not able to compete with our rivals equally. This project decreases the cost of employment of the companies. Moreover, since you employ the participants of this project, you will have the chance to increase your productivity.”
