The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “We are providing the public sector with 30% domestic goods. We have reached a point where we can offer domestic industry products. That represents us with a 30 billion TRY market. Industrialists should acquire their domestic goods licenses and enter into public tenders. The public administration is obligated to purchase goods from domestic producers with a 15% price advantage over overseas offers.”

Attending the 8th Sector Performance Review and Awards Ceremony organized by the Kocaeli Chamber of Industry, TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that the world economy is in recession, that Turkey’s growth figures are under those projected.

Stating that they are satisfied with the economy when compared to other countries, Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that the present growth figures are unsatisfactory for a country which had 8% growth between 2002 and 2008.

Thanking President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Minister for Science, Industry and Technology Fikri Işık for their support in the creation of legislation, Hisarcıklıoğlu reported that the public administration is legally obligated to purchase goods from domestic producers with a 15% price advantage over overseas offers, enabling domestic companies to compete with foreign competitors in the domestic market.
