17.01.2016 / Ankara

In the joint declaration by TZOB, TESK, TÜRK-İŞ, HAK-İŞ, MEMUR-SEN, KAMU-SEN, TİSK and TOBB, it was stated that, “It is of the utmost importance that academics utilize a unifying language in expressing the thoughts of all social groups.” The full text of the declaration is as follows:

“We, the producers, craftsmen, farmers, entrepreneurs and employees of Turkey, are regarding the recent developments which are damaging the unity and solidarity of our country with great trepidation.

In this regard, we are disturbed by the terror attacks and increasing loss of life in recent times.

We find ourselves facing an issue which damages the social structure of Turkey, making it impossible for our citizens to come to an understanding.

It is of the utmost importance that academics utilize a unifying language in expressing the thoughts of all social groups.

No government can be expected to capitulate to terror.

No government can accept armed individuals patrolling its streets apart from its own military personnel.

No government can accept its citizens being interfered with by terrorists.

We must recognize that the reason for the government is to preserve the basic rights of our citizens, to bring normalization to their lives as soon as possible.

We must stand against terror and fight it together.

This is our call to all institutions and citizens.

Let us move in unison according to common sense in these days which require unity and solidarity. Let’s not fall victim to provocation.

Let’s avoid baseless allegations which damage our institutions.

We are of the unshakable belief that our state and nation can overcome any adversity in unity and solidarity.

Unity and solidarity will be preserved; we will not permit terror to damage our social structure.”
