Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey

If we act as one without alienating anyone, we will not be beaten

11.09.2017 / Edirne

M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), participating in the consultation meeting organized by the Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Edirne Commodity Exchange, pointed out that the Turkish entrepreneur is selling goods to all parts of the world and stated that it was necessary to come together as one without alienating anyone. Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “If everyone can think differently but meet to act as one. That's when nobody will beat us.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu said that Edirne is a city that culturally embraces all the colors of the Turkish nation with its history.

Pointing out that the region has very fertile lands, Hisarcıklıoğlu expressed that the farmers are very lucky in this regard.

Reporting that Edirne is the second city with the most historical artifacts after Florence in Europe, Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Edirne should be a commerce center of the Balkans with its historical works and fertile lands.

- Discounts for those who regularly pay their taxes

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that members who pay tax regularly will be discounted beginning next year and said “We will give 5% discount to every brother who regularly pays taxes starting beginning next year.”

- “There is no will above the will of the people”

Stating that on July 15th, in Ankara, he was meeting with the Chairman of the Chamber of the German Chambers and was greatly surprised when the events took place, Hisarcıklıoğlu continued:

“The jets flying that night sounded like bombs being dropped. I was hosting the head of the German Chamber of Commerce, speaking about investing in Turkey by bringing the German business community in. When we learned what was happening we sent the Chairman to his hotel right away. Having learned that a coup was underway, we declared that we do not accept and are opposed to it. There can be no other will above that of the people. All of our chambers and our commodity exchanges showed the same reaction all over Turkey. Everyone stood united on that day. If we hadn’t then, we wouldn’t be holding these meetings today. Thankfully we can express our troubles.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Turkish goods have passed through the customs gates of all countries in the world.

Hisarcıklıoğlu pointed out that Turkey is selling goods to the whole world and said, “We are selling goods to the whole world, we will not alienate anybody for their opinion, politics, religion and race because we are all brothers and sisters. If everyone can think differently but meet to act as one. That's when nobody will beat us. May Allah preserve our unity.”
