TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, who visited Soma Chamber of Commerce and Industry, thanked the residents of Soma, who sent tons of halva to our Mehmetçik in Afrin, recalling that there is “grace in unity; anguish in dissent.”

Hisarciklioglu said, “Soma has come together for our Mehmetçik, who are giving their lives for the unity of our country in Afrin.” May the grace of Allah be upon you. If this country is stands, it is the result of the unity and solidarity of the whole country. All the provinces and municipalities are sharing what they can with our troops. As long as we do not lose this attitude, Allah willing, nobody can do anything to this country.”

Stating that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, describing the heroic people of Soma, referred to it as the home of Seher Ali, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “Our brothers in Soma contributed greatly to making our country a homeland in ending the War of Independence. Rich in mineral wealth in addition to what’s already on the surface. Soma meets 8% of Turkey’s energy demand by itself.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that he is proud of the Soma Chamber of Commerce and Industry and went on, “Soma Chamber of Commerce and Industry provides the same standards as the service provided in Paris, London or Berlin. We are ready for the task of establishing a faculty in Soma. Already Soma has a unique place with everyone in Ankara. 301 miners were martyred. Turkey's heart burned. We came here immediately after the disaster. Here we were. We started the private sector-wide campaign across Turkey. A record donation of 17 million TRY was collected, equivalent to at least 7 schools. Soma's future is bright. Nobody can hold Soma back as long as the unity is maintained.

Hakan Işık, Chairman of Soma Chamber of Commerce and Industry, noted that Hisarciklioglu paid great importance to Soma with his frequent visits and said, “We have fulfilled many of our promises. We are working hard to bring a faculty to Soma. Our mayor, Hasan Ergene, provided us with the land for the faculty, and we are expecting you to support this issue in Ankara, which is now a very important issue for Soma. Manisa Celal Bayar University is considering this faculty. We would be grateful for your support in Ankara. This is very important for Soma.”

TOBB President Hisarcıklıoğlu visited Soma Mine Cemetery after the program and prayed for the martyrs.
