The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu gave a lecture on leadership and entrepreneurship at Düzce University. Hisarcıklıoğlu also visited Prof. Dr. Nigar Demircan Çakar, Rector of Düzce University, at his office.

Addressing the students, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, “I am very happy to be at Düzce University. The university is developing rapidly. I’m following it as it rises in the rankings every year. It plays an important role in the development of both our youth and the region. The university is building close ties to business and industry representatives. You also work closely with Düzce CCI. We are cooperating on many fields such as education infrastructure and project development.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that Düzce University is among the top 50 of the most entrepreneurial universities and a+ university in student satisfaction and in the top 20 in academic incentives.

The TOBB President, expressing how glad he is to be with young people, said, “Youth means energy, future and prosperity. The more educated young people there are in one place, the more new ideas and wealth there is. Artificial Intelligence is a very important issue. A technology that will change the future of the world and the way we do business. We are talking about an industry with 10bn USD invested so far. This amount is expected to increase to 57bn USD in 2021. So the whole world is focused on artificial intelligence technology. Especially in the defense industry; technologies, not cannons and rifles are competing. Very soon, maybe robots will fight for humans. In this sense, we should create our national artificial intelligence strategy with all haste.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu explained that they established artificial intelligence engineering at TOBB ETU and said that Turkey's first artificial intelligence engineers will graduate from TOBB ETU.

Referring to the importance of leadership and being an entrepreneur, Hisarciklıoğlu said that if we can raise leading and entrepreneurial young people, we can quickly adapt to and lead changes.

Hisarcıklıoğlu stressed that the power of nations in the world today is measured not by their rifles, but by entrepreneurial power; the 20 richest countries are the 20 most entrepreneurial countries.

Noting that countries are now importing entrepreneurs, Hisarciklioglu said, “51% of entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley were born outside the United States. The solution to unemployment is entrepreneurship.

An entrepreneur in Turkey employs 10 people. So we need to increase our entrepreneurs. With this vision, I have traveled every inch of our country. I spoke about entrepreneurship. We have established the biggest women's and young entrepreneurs' boards in Turkey. We founded TOBB University of Economics and Technology. Praise Allah, entrepreneurship is in fashion now. If you told me to describe entrepreneurs in one sentence: The entrepreneur is the person who crosses borders.”

Hisarcıklıoğlu stated that it is necessary to dream to become an entrepreneur, to turn the dream into a goal, work hard, to be innovative, to create a brand and take risks.
