Disputes in the business World will be solved by “arbiters”

The arbitration system put in place in order to lighten the burden of the legislative system by bringing solutions to disputes was assessed at TOBB. TOBB Board Vice President Halim Mete said, “The arbitration system will make it possible to save time, money and esteem in business life. The time lost in legislative processes and the financial resources will be reclaimed by us.”​

The Arbitration in Commercial Disputes Meeting was held by TOBB in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and the United Nations Development Program at the TOBB Union Center.

 

Attending the meeting were TOBB Board Vice President Halim Mete, who made the opening speech, Ministry of Justice Deputy Undersecretary Yüksel Hız, Ministry of Justice Law Affairs Director Ömer Kerkez, Ministry of Justice Law Affairs Arbitration Desk Head Hakan Öztatar, bureaucrats concerned with the matter at hand, academics and businessmen.

 

In his speech, Halim Mete emphasized that they put great importance on the Arbitration in Legal Disputes Law put into effect in the June of 2012 and stated that the system will aid in solving the problems of the business community.

 

Speaking at the meeting, Ministry of Justice Deputy Undersecretary Yüksel Hız stated that the most crippling problem of the legislative process is the amount of work load, saying, “This is a problem encountered throughout the whole world. Alternative solutions to this matter are very important.”

 

Ministry of Justice Law Affairs Arbitration Desk Head Hakan Öztatar gave a presentation on the subject during the meeting. He pointed out that the arbitration system is in use in over 160 countries and 802 arbiters are in operation at the moment.

 

Drawing attention to the fact that many disputes can be settled without taking the matter to court, Hakan Öztatar emphasized the trustworthiness and impartiality of arbiters.
