TOBB Turkey Natural Gas Council convened to assess the regulations subcommittee’s Natural Gas Market Legislation number 4646. TOBB Turkey Natural Gas Council President İbrahim Akbal, stating that the views voiced by the Council reflect general market demands, said that they would focus on perpetuating liberal market structure without concessions, import freedom, gradually lowering of BOTAŞ’ market share and its disassembly.​

The regulations subcommittee pointed out that a new phase of contract transfers were at hand and requested that BOTAÅž not make import contacts but renew expired contracts with the private sector.

During the meeting it was stated that BOTAŞ needs to be structured in a laterally dismantled  manner in order to share risks as a sector, natural gas market needs to be established and relevant legal regulations be implemented and the assessments made by TOBB Turkey Natural Gas Council be relayed to the relevant institutions.

Also, during the council meeting Turkey Natural Gas Council Technical Subcommittee was formed with Council Vice President Eyüp Aratay at its head.

- ‘Distribution companies’ tariff methodology should be determined’

At the meeting, where up-to-date assessments regarding the natural gas market were made, the main topic was the distributors’ tariff methodology.
In addition to tariffs, the ‘Blue Flow Contract Bid’, ‘independent inspection institutions being subject to Ministry inspections’ and ‘results of the EPDK workshop’ were among the subjects discussed.
