The Thrace region is expectant in regards to a solution to the fuel tax implemented at customs

The TOBB Board Member Mustafa Yardımcı, relaying the Edirne and Kırklareli concerns regarding the fuel tax to be implemented for those traveling to and from abroad more than 4 times a month to the Customs and Commerce Ministry Undersecretary Ziya Altunyaldız, stated that there is work towards not applying this clause of the law to EU and neighboring countries and that the matter would be presented at the first Ministers’ Council.​

 

Yardımcı stated that the TOBB President M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu is also deeply interested in this issue.

TOBB Board Member Mustafa Yardımcı stated that he has contacted the Customs and Commerce Ministry Undersecretary Ziya Altunyaldız regarding the 2011/2595# Ministers’ Council decree.

- A study for the application of the clause only to EU neighbor countries

Yardımcı stated that contacting the relevant positions and commenting accordingly would yield results and said, “It is unsuitable to reproach instead of informing the relevant authorities regarding this subject. Let’s not repeat the mistakes of yesteryears. The Customs and Commerce Ministry is approaching the issue with the best of intentions. The Customs and Commerce Ministry Region Director Kaptan Kılıç has begun a statistical study on the subject. This study will allow us to see who and how often is traveling to and from abroad. Mr. Mehmet Müezzinoğlu’s study is also ongoing.”
